- Double-weighted statement
- We have requested that this book be double-weighted. It represents an extended and complex piece of research. It is the product of five years’ research into the work. Its completion depended on access to rare books and unpublished manuscripts at six libraries in the UK, USA and Ireland, most significantly the Bodleian Library and the National Library of Ireland. In addition to extensive literary analysis of critically neglected texts, it required interdisciplinary work across the fields of history of science and philosophy, and the application of methods from material culture studies.
