- Comparison of HIPIMS sputtered Ag- and Cu-surfaces leading to accelerated bacterial inactivation in the dark This collaboration with EPFL – Lausanne is the first application of HIPIMS technology to antibacterial fabrics with applications in wound dressings. It reported unmatched enhancements in bacterial inactivation and resulted in four additional publications in high impact factor journals. SHU established an Antimicrobial Resistance Hub comprising scientists from the National HIPIMS Technology Centre, the Biomedical Research Centre to explore the technology together with the surgeons at the Sheffield Teaching hospital. The research instigated two GrowMedTech feasibility studies worth 30k with Zimmer Biomet and Ionbond.
