- This book of 108,000 words was the result of over a decade’s research. It draws on research at a number of US archives – including the presidential libraries of Lyndon Johnson (Austin, TX) and Richard Nixon (Yorba Linda, CA) and the American Motion Picture Arts & Sciences library (LA) - and interviews with film personnel from the 1960s and 1970s. Supported by a Leverhulme Trust Fellowship and an AHRC Small Grant, the interdisciplinary monograph required gaining expertise in race, business and labour history which was integrated with cultural, media and film studies approaches.
