- This paper presents the first longitudinal study investigating the potential of affective embodied agents for supporting improvements in dietary habits. The paper has been cited on 14 occasions since publication. This work has informed research around the acceptance of affective virtual humans in VR (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cognition.2016.12.010), human-robot interaction (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chb.2019.07.031), and issues associated with the “Uncanny Valley” (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijhcs.2020.102463). This research also informed a recent review on the potential of embodied agents to support web-based health interventions (https://doi.org/10.2196/jmir.7351) and directly contributed towards two of the key themes identified (i.e. maintaining engagement in human-embodied agent relationships and the need for more longitudinal research).
