- This paper examined the cost of different links in a low-powered wireless sensor network to make accurate calculations of costs by considering the failure rate of acknowledgement packets. On the back of this analysis, it was proposed that only perfect links (with almost no chance of failure) should be used for routing. This work has been used as the basis for other work in this area and has been extended to propose security protocols that sit above the routing algorithm.
