- Dr Clarke was actively involved in the initial conception of the study along with Prof Richards. He organised and participated in the collection of large numbers of samples from different ethnic groups in Kabale. He also designed, supervised and delivered a significant portion of the laboratory analysis alongside his research students. Including heteroduplex analysis, DNA sequencing and bioinformatics. He participated in the manuscript preparation providing critique on the final journal manuscript.
