- This article simplified and verified strategies for modelling a photovoltaic (PV) generator, which makes it possible for a PV designer to optimise the performance of a PV power plant. This is achieved by reducing the mathematical and computational complexities of existing methods, thus allowing simplified lumped circuit parameters models to be embedded in circuit simulation software packages. This is not only used to model and design PV systems with due account taken of temperature and insulation, but also of the effects of partial shading which can have adverse effects of the energy yield of such systems.
