- Following on from Venter's collaborative role in the Sustainability Design Alliance (https://www.sustainabilitydesign.org/who-we-are/), this article demonstrates how to operationalise the principles of the highly influential Karlskrona Manifesto (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7202997). This research has led to substantial funding for co-author Porras from the Finnish Academy (tinyurl.com/2628n7bg) to drive forward this international collaboration's agenda on how to infuse sustainability design practices into socio-technical ICT systems; and has influenced new initiatives to develop a Body of Knowledge for Software Sustainability (tinyurl.com/3q27ahaf). Although recently published, the article has already been downloaded many times (e.g. see downloads from researchgate https://www.researchgate.net/publication/343661803_Requirements_engineering_for_sustainability_an_awareness_framework_for_designing_software_systems_for_a_better_tomorrow)
