- West and Stone worked collaboratively in translating, annotating and introducing the Latin text in a shared and iterative process that took place over a period of eight years, beginning in 2007. In the first step of the process, each produced a first draft translation of roughly half the Latin text, before both then worked together to refine and smooth the translation to ensure semantic and stylistic consistency, which took considerably longer than the initial rough drafting. In the second step, they co-wrote, edited and revised the annotations and the introduction, sharing ideas and suggestions. As a result, it is not possible to allocate any section of this co-written book to either author individually, but rather both are the authors of all of it.
