- ORIGINALITY: The paper reports key results from EPSRC project EP/L005255/1 and is the first work to consider converged network and server resource management for network-wide bandwidth optimisation over data centre topologies. SIGNIFICANCE: the paper has been published in the top IEEE Transactions journal on Network and Service Management, and builds on earlier, best-paper award-wining work from IEEE Cloudnet 2014. It has formed the basis for successful follow-up EPSRC bid (EP/N033957/1). RIGOUR: The work devised a heuristic solution to a previously shown NP-complete problem, and is evaluated using large-scale simulation and testbed experiments over a scale model of data centre network.
