- This is 105,000-word manuscript that was a product of a 10 year long research effort , caused by difficulties around accessing sources and its interdisciplinary approach (history, women/gender studies, surveillance studies, postcolonial studies, and anti-racism studies). It is based on approximately 9500 pages of security records obtained through a freedom of information process involving state censorship thus complicating source material and creating multiple copies of the same record through different individual censors necessitating a difficult piecing together process within the dataset. Also, the need for extensive archival work in Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa.
