- This collaborative study was funded by the EPSRC PV SUPERGEN programme where the down-shifting approach was to boost thin film PV cell efficiency. It leveraged subsequent funding for a project (“Development of Extremely Thin Absorber CdTe Solar Cells” - DETACELL) from the British Council (Newton Fund: 173616738, £65k) with the Centre for Solar Energy Research (CSER, Swansea) and with Middle East Technical University (Turkey) leading to a joint paper “Extremely thin absorber CdTe thin film solar cells” (Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, vol 176, 100, 2018).
