- This publication is a four-chapter book (ISBN 978-1-84976-544-2) commissioned by Tate Research as part of their In Focus project supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art. The attributed individual is the chief author and editor of the book, which examines a single painting from multiple perspectives and presents substantially new and unpublished archival findings. The attributed individual invited the two contributing authors, and was responsible for the conception, planning and close editing of the study as a whole. The attributed individual's two chapters comprise c.25,000 words (60%) and are based on research conducted in France, the UK and the USA. The volume was externally and anonymously peer-reviewed before acceptance and on-line publication in July 2019.
