- This monograph explores the perceived analogy between linguistic translation and spatial translation, arguing for an understanding of linguistic translation as an embodied phenomenon. The chapters, originally written as international conference papers, were all peer-reviewed and delivered over 5 years, except "Translators' Notes", which was written as a way of introduction. informed by phenomenology and in particular by Maurice Merleau-Ponty's work on sens, this innovative and interdisciplinary research engages with perspectives from post-structuralist philosophy, geometry, linguistics, literature and multilingual poetry to test the condition of the bilingual speaker through the form of the literary essay.
