- The changing professional identify of the Higher Education (HE) academic has considerable impact on curriculum development and teaching excellence. The significance of this paper is the introduction and recognition of the career academic in UK HE. A recent Council of Heads of the Built Environment (CHOBE) report ‘The State of Global Surveying Education (2019) makes comment on the emerging concept of the career academic. The work presented in this publication underpins themes for three journal papers and two conference papers (ISEE 2016) exploring academic identify in Higher Education.
