- This is the first study in servitization that considers the functions, roles and practices of individuals managing the provision of products and solutions across organisational boundaries. It provides guidance to managers on the different practices required when managing a product (communicating price and features) versus a solution (professional education, consultation, conflict reduction). By adopting this approach, MAN (a global logistics company) improved customer service (CEO of MAN UK, des.evans@man.eu). Boundary spanning functions are a cornerstone of a framework for developing new business models for the steel industry through the £408,703 EPSRC funded Viability of Future UK Steel Production (EP/S013318/1).
