- This monograph of over 230 pages offers the first systematic analysis of the reception of the works and ideas of Hugo Grotius in 17th and early-18th century England. The book is based on very extensive research fieldwork requiring the collection and analysis, over a lengthy period (1613 to 1718), of a wide range of complex primary source material (including books, pamphlets, state papers, correspondences and book catalogues) drawn from a significant number of archives and libraries in the US and UK, as well as remarkably thorough knowledge of the secondary literature in several languages.
