- A new three-step algorithm for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging is proposed to tackle three major challenges in this field: extremely high computational complexity, appearance of ghost targets and azimuth resolution reduction at the scene edge. A modified de-rotation is derived based on the chirp z-transform, avoiding zero padding; a chirp scaling algorithm kernel is adopted for precise focusing and finally a range-dependent de-ramp is applied to compensate for time shift. The algorithm leads to very low complexity, with a very high-quality imaging result. It is a general idea, applicable to many other SAR imaging scenarios.
