- This book reflects decades of engagement with work on sexuality, culture and political economy. It critically defends, and attempts a synthesis of, the work of Herbert Marcuse and the cultural materialist tradition by contrast with the postructuralism/postmodernism of queer theory by placing them in the context of the more general political, economic and theoretical shifts that took place between the sixties and the present.
