- Double-weighted statement
- Research for this book is based on several rounds of fieldwork in two countries conducted over four years and including more than 150 interviews with business people, military officers and leading political figures, including former presidents and military junta leaders. The research also includes archival material in native languages and two additional cases from different global regions. The case study analysis covers the literature on regime change, civil-military relations and area studies. The breadth and depth of the fieldwork and the theoretical framework allow for a significant contribution to the literature on the military’s role in situations of regime change.
