- This paper describes the only-to-date 3D fractional viscoelastic model which enables the description of the viscoelastic behaviour of a complex material system with only two material parameters. The work, which set the basis for two subsequent papers (authored by the second author), has attracted the attention of the orthopaedic implants industry in order to model the wear of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene components. The work has formed the basis for attracting funding to set up the knee wear lab at Oxford Brookes University.
