- This extensive journal issue (516pp.) is conceived as a comprehensive publication on the long tradition and global impact of Czech puppetry, recently awarded UNESCO intangible cultural heritage status. Essays, exhibition reports, and the review section were commissioned and curated to bring novel archival research to light. The co-authored introduction (12,000 words) outlines the concept, and outlines new archival research (sole-authored by Drábek) on C17 roots of Czech puppetry in Italian puppetry and English itinerant theatre and entertainment. The volume includes the first English translation of Zich’s 1922 foundational essay on puppet theatre theory.
