- Brooks was the initiator of this project, collecting all of the primary material (published and unpublished writing by Nadia Boulanger) over a period of nearly ten years before beginning collaborative work with her co-editor Kimberly Francis. The production of the edition itself was a fully collaborative endeavour: the documents were split roughly in half and the two editors produced first draft translations before swapping over to edit each other’s work. Critical notes were produced in an iterative process by both editors, and the extensive Introduction (c. 25,000 words) was co-written over a period of several months of brainstorming, discussion meetings and written exchange.
