- Published in top ranked ‘composites’ journal, the output provides an advanced extended approach to predict mechanics of Functionally Graded Sandwich Structures (FGSS). The paper, involving international academics, contributes important knowledge and techniques which are likely to have a lasting influence in the area of structures. The adaptation of the quasi-3D theory in this research area is first-of-its-kind. A novel approach has been adopted (for aerospace, marine and building sectors) to provide a more accurate solution in FGSS. The original work also resulted in successful achievements of Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP, #10100) and industrial research contract (#RCR00863) with TechnipFMC PLC, UK.
