- The book gathers and analyses a wide range of material relevant to the reception (scholarly, poetic, and ritual) of Pindar and his epinician poetry in antiquity, some of which, especially ancient Pindaric commentaries and lectional signs, required specialized interpretative skills. The book presents an original reading of that poetry’s significance for ancient readers while also advancing interpretations of the poems as performance events.
