- This monograph originates from ten years of cross-cultural fieldwork on social movements and political parties in Spain, Italy and Mexico including project funding from the Mexican National Council in 2012 and 2013, and the SSHRC in Canada in 2015. It draws on 145 individual and 10 group interviews, 8 months of participant observation, discourse and content analysis. The book proposes and applies a new conceptual vocabulary based on practices, ecologies, imaginaries and algorithms to account for the communicative complexity of protest movements. It won the 2019 Outstanding Book Award of the ACSJ Group of ICA.
