- This monograph is an outcome of longitudinal ethnographic research, supported by a British Academy grant, that explored the everyday literacy practices of families living on a Midlands Council Estate. Drawing on different perspectives from the tradition of literacy studies, and using literacy as a lens, the book examines the challenges faced by many communities and the narrow view of literacy which is implicated within these. The book was shortlisted for the UKLA Academic Book Award 2019.
