- This arose from an international PhD studentship funded by the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), Iraq (SL-144-02) as part of work developing catalysts for the preparation of environmentally friendly fuels and platform chemicals from renewables. The student, Aqeel Al-Ani, successfully defended his thesis and is now working for the company that funded the research in Iraq. The work was presented at the International Zeolite Conference, Australia (2019). Four further papers and successful beamtime application at Diamond Light Source have resulted from the study and the materials have been used in the production of high value chemicals and fuels from renewable sources.
