- VANETs will become a reality in the very near future. The tremendous safety, convenience and commercial potential of vehicular networks will not only drive its deployment but will be fuelled by its demand as well once consumers realize its effectiveness. In this work, an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is proposed and evaluated. The proposed IDS is capable of detecting a false information attack using statistical techniques effectively and can also detect other types of attacks hence mitigating any road accidents due to cyberattacks on the autonomous vehicular networks.
