- The book is a result of extended ethnographic research in two rural communities of Pontic Greek transnational migrants in southern Russia. 60+ individual/group interviews were conducted. Over 30,000 words of the fieldwork notes/diary entries were produced. Complex primary sources (e.g. interview data, participant observations, autobiographical accounts, archives of household registries, and media texts) were analysed with reference to specialist literature from social anthropology, sociology, political sciences, transnationalism, globalisation and post-socialism studies and literary and academic sources in several languages (e.g. English, Russian, Greek and Turkish). Access issues included building a rapport with informants, travel to and living in research sites.
