- The paper is a further development of an EPSRC project (EP/G002126), covering elliptical concrete filled steel column to I-beam connections which has been increasingly adopted in recent years. The parametric study provides a deeper insight into the structural behaviour of this type of connection and further confirms the benefit to adopt it in practice. The research output not only extended the data base of elliptical concrete filled steel tubular columns but it also provided a reference for connection design.
