- The empirical research for Forensic Authorship Analysis and the World Wide Web was conducted over a ten-year period (2004—2014). This longitudinal research required sustained effort and novel methods of inquiry to produce critical insight regarding the efficacy of using the World Wide Web for investigative and evidential purposes in forensic authorship analysis. To date this has been a commonly held and largely unquestioned practice. Based on rigorous study, the research argues that this practice is wholly insufficient for the forensic context and calls for a reassessment of methods in the field.
