- This paper reports the first systematic investigation of ageing and cyclic loading of driven piles in chalk. It led to significant developments in the understanding of the behaviour of driven piles in chalk and to the ALPACA project a GBP1,800,000 EPSRC funded major research project with support from seven offshore developers (EP/P033091/1). The paper was awarded the 2019 ICE Publishing David Hislop Award (also known as the offshore award) for the best paper on offshore matters.
