- In its comparative nature, its question, its scope and method, this work critically engages with a large body of work in the sub-field of regional welfare politics. The book draws on a wide range of original data, collected between 2011 and 2015, and does so using a range of analytical and descriptive techniques of a qualitative and quantitative nature based on extensive primary source investigation. The study combines two levels of comparison: cross-national –comparing Italy, Spain and Great Britain –and cross-regional –assessing evidence from 40 regions in the three countries. This multi-level approach adds originality and rigour to the analysis.
