- Machineries of Oil brings together histories of the Middle East with histories of technology informed by interdisciplinary thinking in science and technology studies to rethink the politics of the Middle East through a study of the British-controlled oil industry in Iran. The book offers completely new information on the topic of oil in Iran, combining extensive archival research at the BP Archive, which offers limited access to scholars, with archival and field work at various sites in Iran and the US. The work conducted in Iran is not typically done and is missing from previous scholarship.
