- This is the journal paper version of the published patent PCT/GB2017/051364. New findings, where a new topology of DC/DC converters is presented using low loss IGCT semiconductors for hybrid HVDC grids, which led to a prestigious invited talk by a global industrial company in the field of power grids; ABB Corporate Research Centre, Sweden. Contact ABB Senior Scientist ahmed.abdelhakim@se.abb.com. This is one of a suite of related papers underpinning membership of International Council on Large Electric Systems (Cigre) Working Group B4.81 to influence industry practice on AC side interactions of nearby VSC-HVDC systems (contact WG convenor Kamran Sharifabadi kamsh@equinor.com).
