- Fellow Travellers is a single-authored 100,000-word monograph which makes an original contribution to the social and political history of France in the period 1914-1939 and particularly trade union organisation and communist activism. It draws upon significant archival research undertaken over 8 years in local and national archives located across France. These include the Archives Nationales in Paris, the SNCF Archives in Le Mans, and the Indre-et-Loire Departmental archives located in Tours. In addition, I examined French newspapers and printed sources held at the French national library. Very few of these sources exist in digital form.
