- The built environment is the sector which puts the most pressure on the natural environment but applying Circular Economy (CE) principles has been limited. This study considered the problem on a three-tier level: macro(cities), meso(buildings) and micro(components), producing a frame of reference with six fundamental dimensions for CE research. The work is significant because it captures current challenges in embedding CE principles in the built environment and provides a framework to achieve more ‘circular buildings’. This work led to collaboration with KTH, Sweden and Aalborg University, Copenhagen, and an invited co-authored chapter for the Elgar Handbook of Circular Economy.
