- This paper adapts Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) image recognition algorithms for use in Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. It was one of the important early works applying deep learning algorithms to NLP, and was key to the subsequent revolution that swept the field (see Yoav Goldberg’s ‘Primer on Neural Network Models for Natural Language Processing’, JAIR 2016, https://doi.org/10.1613/jair.4992; and Kim, in EMNLP 2014, https://doi.org/10.3115/v1/D14-1181).
