- Commonplace Diversity: Social Relations in a Super-diverse Context is a monograph based on intensive ethnographic fieldwork in East London over a period of 18 months, which included daily participation in community groups and activities, participant observation in public space, volunteering in civil society organisations, and in-depth interviews with local residents and key people such as councillors, teachers and youth workers. Data collected during this period included several hundred pages of fieldnotes, interview and focus-group transcripts, as well as media reports and grey literature (government and civil society organisation reports). Data analysis and writing up took a further 2.5 years.
