- Covenant and Calling emerged out of a relatively short period of intense work on the ethics of sexuality prompted by Song’s participation in the House of Bishops Working Group on Human Sexuality. It did however draw on nearly three decades of fundamental thinking about the nature of theological ethics and close engagement with some of the leading authorities in Christian sexual ethics. It wears its learning deliberately lightly since its aim was to make an intervention in a public debate that would be more likely to be widely read than a more overtly scholarly contribution.
