- This book is the first monograph devoted to the central Sufi idea of the Perfect Human. It is the fruit of over six years of research into the Sufi metaphysical tradition of Ibn ‘Arabi and his followers. The research involved the collection of a range of primary source material in Arabic and Persian and the close analysis of complex mystical and philosophical texts. Contrary to previous accounts, it demonstrates that the idea of the Perfect Human was developed in new and original ways by Ibn ‘Arabi’s follower al-Jili.
