- This long-form mixed-methods study by a multidisciplinary team from two universities reports on a large body of complex, highly sensitive material. Three years of data on 293 children killed or seriously injured are analysed drawing on Department for Education notifications, and in-depth reports from NSPCC and local authorities. These data are examined in the context of data accumulated by the team since 2005, allowing trends across 10 years (N=940) to be examined. The analysis was complex and layered including a quantitative analysis of case characteristics and in-depth qualitative analysis of sub-samples of cases, guided by a systemic theoretical framework.
