- All on Show is the first study of the circus in Irish literature and culture. As such, it breaks significant new ground and forges insightful connections between literary and performance texts, cultural forms, and historical contexts. The book addresses a rich and wide variety of primary material yet to be considered carefully by scholars: from archival holdings in international collections, to obscure works of literature, to historic and contemporary performances. All on Show displays the author’s ability to manage a range of methodological approaches at once whilst formulating a coherent and persuasive argument.
