- This book is the result of four years empirical study of the effects of school curriculum on the multi-layered holistic development of 300 Muslim children in the UK and, theoretically, of a sustained engagement with the philosophy of critical realism. It articulates an original philosophy and social theory of Islam in education called Islamic Critical Realism. The book has been used to inform teacher training and further research into Islam in education at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, the UCL Institute of Education and elsewhere and has contributed to educational policy and practice in Canada, Iran and Australia.
