- Southern presented the paper The Multiple Narratives of Post-Truth Politics, Told Through Pictures at the Association for Art History - Annual Conference: Courtauld Institute, London, 5 – 7 April 2018. His paper formed part of the session titled DADA DATA: Contemporary Art Practice in the Era of Post-Truth Politics - Convened by
Sarah Hegenbart and Mara-Johanna Kölmel. Papers were not published as part of the proceedings of this conference but selected papers, including Southern’s were nominated for publication in the book edited by Hegenbart and Kölmel, DADA DATA. Southern’s paper was the summation of an extensive research process of workshops, conference papers and lectures, with collaborative partners such as Drawing Room London, Trinity Buoy Warf Drawing Prize and partner artists/accademics such as Dryden Goodwin, Dr Gill Gibbon and Kate MacFarlane. Through a previous AAH conference paper at Loughborough University (2017), Southern began exploring the relevance of the medium of drawing in relation to emerging technologies. His earlier findings were also published in It’s about Time - Issue 43 - Interalia Magazine and Online Academic Journal Edited by Richard Bright
https://www.interaliamag.org/issue/its-about-time/. An edited version of Southern’s paper The Multiple Narratives of Post-Truth Politics, Told Through Pictures is about to be published as a book chapter by Bloomsbury Academic (March 2021).
