- This 130,000 word monograph is the culmination of a 7 year research project (2009-2016), partly funded by the AHRC for the doctoral research that formed the basis of the project's early years, examining the practices of all states detaining in armed conflicts with non-state armed groups. The project constituted 100% of the author’s workload in the first three years and 40% thereafter. The multi-jurisdictional nature of the research resulted in a vast dataset that included 30 different national laws, 60 UN resolutions and 210 cases.
