- The extensive research for this longer form output, a monograph, was conducted over a period of 16 months, with primary sources accessed across two universities. This book adds significantly to the study of loneliness, and loneliness in Higher Education, by arguing for a more qualitative linguistic approach. Almost all studies on loneliness to date use mass surveys or 1-to-1 questionnaires. The Discursive Psychology approach employed in this longer form monograph is extensive and time consuming and takes the study of loneliness in a new methodological direction, while also informing our understanding of loneliness specifically amongst HE student populations.
