- The Life of D. H. Lawrence: A Critical Biography, an 180,000-word monograph, incorporates original research in archives in the UK (Manuscripts and Special Collections, University of Nottingham), the USA (McFarlin Library, University of Tulsa; Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas) and New Zealand (Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington). It analyses Lawrence’s professional life and writing practice by drawing closely on his 5,500 plus extant letters and interpreting the findings of the 40-volume Cambridge Edition of his Works.
