- This was the first paper to demonstrate that 3D culture of human pluripotent stem cells in RGD-alginate hydrogel can improve retinal tissue development. The paper led to three invited talks at international research and ophthalmology meetings (i.e. The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Annual Meeting 2018, USA; Netherlands Ophthalmic Society 2018; Belgium Ophthalmological Society 2018). The research underpinning this paper contributed to proposals funded by the BBSRC (BB/T004460/1) and MRC (MR/S035826/1) involving a pharmaceutical company (Chiesi) and the University of Oslo (Norway).
